Wicked

Jersey Boys is the story behind the rise of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. It is a rags-to-riches story that shows you how four blue-collar kids worked their way from the streets of Newark and rise to stardom. The Lion King

The Lion King was thought to be impossible to bring to the stage. Director Julie Taymor who is well known for mythical staging brought the impossible to life. The story begins with Simba being born and the Lion King, Mufasa, and his queen, Sarabi, introduce him to the animals. Mufasa’s wicked brother spends all of his time plotting to take out the future king and his father. This show has won numerous awards and not enough good things can be said about this wonderful production. It’s a must see!

Monty Python's Spamalot

Spamalot is directed by Mike Nichols and tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table. It is an adaptation of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Spamalot also has gorgeous showgirls and killer rabbits. The New Yorker called it “a no-holds-barred smash.” To mark the one-year anniversary of the show, the Producers decided to set the Guinness World Record for making the “World’s Largest Coconut Orchestra.” Almost 1,200 fans came out on March 22, 2006 and played “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” on their coconut halves.

Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera opened in October of 1986 at Her Majesty’s Theatre. There has never been a seat unsold in London. The story takes place in 1911 when the contents of the Paris Opera House are being auctioned off. A 70-year-old man named Raoul buys a poster and a music box. When the Opera House chandelier is displayed, the auctioneer explains how it is connected to the legend of the Phantom of the Opera. Suddenly, there is a flash of light and the audience is tossed back in time when the Paris Opera was at its peak.

Tarzan the Musical

Tarzan is an orphan that is deposited by the ocean on a West African shore after the ship he was on goes down. A gorilla tribe takes him in as one of their own. He eventually encounters his first human, Jane Porter, and both their lives are forever changed. Phil Collins adds his music and lyrics to round out this amazing production. The Journal News called it “a grand, pull-out-all-the stops musical!”

The Pirate Queen is based on the novel by Morgan Llywelyn. It follows the life of Grace O’Malley. She was born in 1530 as the only daughter of Dubhdara (Black Oak) O’Malley and his wife Margaret. Grace has been described as a woman who overstepped the part of womanhood. She broke the rules and allowed neither political, social nor religious convention to come in the way of her chosen path. She was a legendary woman was a pirate, chieftain, lover and mother.

The Color Purple

The Color Purple is adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker and the inspirational film by Steven Spielberg. It tells the story of a woman who finds the strength within herself to triumph over adversity and find her unique voice in the world. The musical features a variety of music featuring jazz, ragtime, gospel and the blues. Five months after it opened on Broadway, it was grossing over a million a week.
